Altar Tiles: Ancient Wisdoms

Altar tiles are symbolic symbols within Wicca and Neo Paganism that are often in the shape of pentacles and pentagrams. Altar tiles rest upon the altar as either a symbol of protection for the altar, or as just an over all show symbol for the individual's faith. Altar tiles come in many different shapes, sizes, styles, and colors and basically anything from a coaster, to a decorative floor tile, to symbols carved or made out certain materials can be deemed as altar tiles.

Altar tiles can be placed on altars as symbols and outward meanings for the individual's sacred space. Altar tiles can also be used in rituals and spells in a variety of methods although one more common use is as a vessel to hold energy this includes spirits. Ancient texts often speak of practitioners of the craft using altar tiles to trap and hold spirits whether it be for the actual ritual in progress or to entrap the spirit or demon's energies within the altar tile itself permanently.
